My Cultural Bag
By Ryan Conley

My tiger claw necklace symbolizes of how my dad cares about me on every trip he has taken. This was given to me from my dad when he went to Ethiopia (which is a country in Africa). Once I received this spectacular gift I touched the claw and felt it prick my finger. I could see of how the claw was shaped and the dirt marks that didn’t get cleaned off. I also could smell the type if jewelry that held it secure. This was very important to me because it helped me learned about how other cultures make jewelry by using actual animals.

My dog Bailey is a yellow lab odor and is my family’s beloved pet. We got him on March 14, 2006. This is important to us because it helped us learn of keeping a pet happy and healthy and having an enjoyable time doing that. Whenever we come home I can here the clattering of his toenail connecting with the hard wood floor with joy waiting for someone to let him out. I can him sprinting towards me so he can sniff me to see where he had just been. I can smell and feel his warm soft fur as I pet him too. As you can see Bailey is a very important part of my and my families life.

My second grade teacher as a goodbye gift gave my rosary to me, because I was moving to Seattle, Washington. This was important to me because with the rosary it can help me become better at praying to God. Once I received this gift I had felt the jewels that you put your finger on and say a prayer. A lot of times we try to go but only make about two masses a month. Another way I can stay connected with God is going to church class that we go to the second Tuesday each month.

The picture of my mom and I was in kindergarten at my Thanksgiving feast. This was important to me because it shows my mom’s dismay for education. I keep this picture is on my desk so I can see it every day. This showed myself learning about other holidays and celebrating them. Without my mom and my dad I wouldn’t have an education.

The American Flag is a very important part of my family because a whole lot of my relatives took a part in the military. This includes my two grandpas my dad and my uncle and finally my great grandpa who was a tank commander in WWII. Whenever we do the pledge at school it is very important to me because of the soldiers that are currently serving or who recently served in the military. So as you can see or countries flag is a very important part in my life. Hopefully when I grow up I can follow my families footsteps by doing something in the military.
